New Pastoral Assistant from 1st September

A farewell service for Rev Dagmar Balser took place on 6th August 2017. Her successor introduces herself below.

Barbara Killat

I am looking forward to being there for you. I plan to serve in your congregation from 1st September. I am equipped for this task by the experiences of nearly 55 years of a life joyously lived, 20 of these in the ordained ministry. I studied in Berlin and have been a pastor ever since. For a number of years I managed various public service institutions of my church in central Germany and later its department for Ecumenism, Public Service and Spiritual Welfare.

Dietrich Bonhoeffer Centre London (DBCL)

Dietrich Bonhoeffer (1906-45), a significant theologian and resistance fighter against Nazi injustice, was the minister of the German congregation in Sydenham/Forest Hill from 1933 to 1935. At this time, he lived in the clergy house at 2 Manor Mount, Forest Hill. The congregation feels a special responsibility to cherish his spiritual and ethical legacy to this day.

Watchword for 2018:
God says: To him who is thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the spring of the water of life.
(Revelation 21,6)
